Germany is witnessing a surge in demand for residential solar and storage solutions, driven by factors such as rising electricity costs, the desire for energy independence, and environmental consciousness. According to the Federal Association of the Solar Industry (BSW), 75% of suitable households plan to install solar panels, with 80% also considering adding energy storage.
To facilitate access to solar energy through Balkonkraftwerk, the VDE proposed in January 2023 to cap the maximum output of these systems at 800W, which is suited for 1−2 solar modules with microinverters. This is expected to create a high demand for microinverters, especially given the energy crisis in Europe and the growing need for home and commercial energy storage.
With the consensus on energy security and affordability, as well as the reduced cost of microinverters, global solar installations are projected to reach 375GW+ by 2023, a 45% increase from last year.
